With the introduction of modern electronic instrumentation, the Aedas Land Surveying section, formed in 1970, became an independent department marketing itself outside the Practice, generating its own income and establishing its own client base.

Aedas Land Surveying exists within the Building Surveying company, of which Lee McDougall is an Associate Director. Aedas Land Surveying has been particularly successful since its creation as an independent unit and has become recognised for its expertise in the architectural surveys of historic monuments and buildings.

Any project requiring the input of three dimensional control can be undertaken by Aedas Land Surveying with particular expertise in monitoring, measured building, topographic surveys, railtrack structural gauging, setting out, volumetric surveys and conversion of existing drawings to CAD format.
