Profile
The Newcastle University geomatics group forms a key component of the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, comprising nine academic staff, 11 research staff, two technical support staff and around 15 research students. It is research led, encompassed under the themes of Geophysical and Space Geodesy and Geomatic Engineering see www.ceg.ncl.ac.uk/research/geomatics/index.htm

Through the Geomatics Applications Centre, the Newcastle geomatics group run industrial and professional development courses, undertake consultancy, outreach and knowledge transfer work. Geomatics staff coordinate and teach on three undergraduate degree programmes – Surveying and Mapping Science, Geographic Information Science and Physical Geography, which together produce approximately 50-60 geomatics graduates per annum. Staff also contribute to a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Civil Engineering and other disciplines within Newcastle University.
