Train delays, exciting new ventures & mushy peas

Published: 21 Feb 2013

Yesterday, the intrepid volunteers who make up TSA’s Council and Committees met in Newark.  This meeting was postponed from January, due to the snowy weather, and was almost scuppered again as various members – including the President and Vice-President – battled through the massive delays in and out of Kings Cross.

Nonetheless, all three Committees (PR, Membership and Internal Affairs a.k.a MIA and Technical) all managed to hold their meetings in the morning and work through their various agendas.  Lunch time was a treat of Nottinghamshire’s finest fish ‘n’ chips ‘n’ mushy peas.  It’s all about the glamour!

The time that Council members give up for TSA is not to be underestimated.  An ability to see the ‘bigger picture’ and work together for the good of the membership and the industry as a whole is crucial.  Every meeting is about communicating the issues that need to be discussed and plans that need to made for the next week, month and several years into the future.

Membership growth has been reported at consecutive meetings, which is always encouraging.  Meeting dates have already been set for 2013, with most seminars well advanced in the planning stages and talk did turn to 2014 and beyond.

TSA’s AGM on 17th April 2013 looks to be a great mix of opportunities for members to enjoy an open discussion, networking over lunch and train engines plus a session devoted to BIM in the afternoon.  Seminars on various topics such as GPR, Building Surveying and GIS are already scheduled.  A big event on UAVs is currently being pulled together for the summer.  If you are considering applying to join TSA, now would be a very good time!
