The post holder will ensure students are prepared for both on-programme assessment and End Point Assessment (EPA), including the development of portfolios of evidence and professional interviews.

Teaching and Learning

• To develop and implement teaching and learning strategies that ensure students are successful in achieving their Geospatial Surveying qualification.
• Deliver both classroom-based and practical field-based learning, including real-world simulations and work-based assessment.
• Support learners to develop competence in the use of surveying equipment.
• Guide learners in building a portfolio of evidence aligned to apprenticeship standards and EPA requirements.
• Assess students using a range of methods including Practical observation, portfolio of evidence, written assignments and reports, real work environment assessments
• To promote student centred learning, ensuring all students have access to differentiated learning materials.
• To embed stretch and challenge so all students reach their full potential.
• To identify and implement strategies to ensure that the student’s learning experience is of the highest standard and shows progress over time.

School of Digital Built Environment

• To be involved with the School of Digital Built Environment activities.
• To promote STEM across the College and at external events, maintaining and forging links with partner institutions, such as schools and universities.
• To provide enrichment and enhancement activities within the Digital Built Environment sector.

Pastoral

• To take an active role in the selection, induction and support of students.
• To promote and safeguard the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults.
• To meet the individual needs of all students to ensure all have an equal chance of success.

Personal Development

• To undertake staff development and attend staff meetings, as required and requested.
• To accept flexible redeployment and reallocation of duties commensurate with the level of the post.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent vocational qualification in Civil Engineering, Geospatial, Surveying or related.
• Teaching and Assessor qualification or willingness to work towards.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.

Knowledge/Experience

• Strong occupational competence in geospatial surveying, GIS, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of traditional surveying techniques, mathematical and geodetic principles, and professional industry standards.
• Experience of effective team working and effective relationships between staff and students.
• Ability to develop supportive working relationships with parents and other key stakeholders.
• Knowledge of curriculum and assessment issues at level 3.
• Understanding of curriculum developments and national initiatives.
• Knowledge of current awarding body practices is preferable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding issues.
• Knowledge of equality and diversity issues.

• Reports to Head of Engineering & Digital Built Environment.
• Salary – £32,769 – £48,084
• The post holder will undertake all duties and responsibilities in compliance with regulatory, legislative and college procedural requirements.
