<p>Due to the continued expansion of our portfolio of survey services we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced&nbsp;<strong>Hydrographic Surveyor</strong>&nbsp;to join our team and to support operational and QA processes.</p>



<p>This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Hydrographic Surveyor to conduct precise underwater mapping and bathymetric surveys across UK waters. You&#8217;ll work with cutting-edge survey equipment including multibeam echo sounders and side-scan sonar from our modern fleet of survey vessels, delivering critical marine survey data that supports infrastructure development and maritime navigation projects.</p>



<p><strong>The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Conduct Hydrographic Surveys:</strong> Plan and execute high-resolution hydrographic surveys across diverse environments, including inland waterways, coastal regions, and offshore sites</li>



<li><strong>Operate Advanced Survey Equipment:</strong> Utilise and maintain sophisticated survey instruments such as multibeam and single-beam echo sounders, side-scan sonar, magnetometers, and GNSS systems to collect accurate data</li>



<li><strong>Data Processing and Analysis:</strong> Process and analyse collected hydrographic data using industry-standard software, ensuring the production of precise and reliable survey results</li>



<li><strong>Report Preparation:</strong> Generate comprehensive survey reports, charts, and visualizations that meet client specifications and adhere to international standards</li>



<li><strong>Quality Assurance:</strong> Implement and adhere to robust QA procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of survey data throughout all project phases</li>



<li><strong>Project Management:</strong> Assist in the planning and coordination of survey projects, including resource allocation, scheduling, and liaising with clients to meet project objectives</li>



<li><strong>Team Collaboration:</strong> Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers and environmental scientists, to integrate hydrographic data into broader project frameworks</li>



<li><strong>Equipment Maintenance:</strong> Ensure all survey equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for deployment to guarantee optimal performance during field operations</li>



<li><strong>Health and Safety Compliance:</strong> Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety within the survey team</li>



<li><strong>Continuous Improvement:</strong> Stay abreast of technological advancements in hydrographic surveying and contribute to the continuous improvement of survey methodologies and practices</li>
</ul>



<p><strong>To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Degree or equivalent qualification in Hydrography, Geomatics, Marine Science, or a related discipline. Recent graduates with relevant training are welcome to apply</li>



<li>Basic understanding or experience with hydrographic acquisition and processing software such as QPS QINSy, Qimera, Hypack, EIVA NaviSuite, or SonarWiz</li>



<li>Exposure to or working knowledge of data acquisition and processing for multibeam and singlebeam bathymetry. Experience with side-scan sonar, magnetometers, or LiDAR is an advantage</li>



<li>Basic skills in CAD and/or GIS software (e.g., AutoCAD, QGIS, ArcGIS)</li>



<li>Some practical industry experience (e.g., through work placement, internships, or previous roles) in hydrographic or geophysical surveying</li>



<li>Enthusiastic with a willingness to learn new techniques and take initiative in field and office tasks</li>



<li>Full UK driving licence is essential</li>



<li>Willing and able to travel and stay away from home for site work, sometimes at short notice</li>



<li>Comfortable working aboard survey vessels. RYA Powerboat Level 2 or willingness to obtain is advantageous</li>



<li>Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment</li>

<p><strong>The Role</strong></p>



<p>We are looking for a&nbsp;<strong>Junior Utility Surveyor</strong>&nbsp;to support our survey teams in Coventry and across the UK. The ideal candidate will have some experience or exposure to utility surveying or related fieldwork and be eager to expand their knowledge in identifying underground utilities, gathering site data, and supporting the production of utility mapping outputs.</p>



<p>You must be willing to work away from home and/or carry out night work when required.</p>



<p><strong>What You’ll Be Doing</strong></p>



<p>As a Junior Utility Surveyor, you will support senior surveyors and assist with a variety of tasks, including:</p>

<li>Assisting with GPR and utility mapping surveys under supervision</li>



<li>Supporting investigative utility surveys and completing basic site paperwork</li>



<li>Working alongside surveyors, contractors, suppliers, and clients</li>



<li>Helping to collate data for utility survey reports</li>



<li>Carrying out basic quality checks and assisting in passing data to CAD teams</li>



<li>Learning to review survey drawings before client issue</li>



<li>Receiving on-the-job training and mentoring from experienced surveyors</li>



<li>Supporting Project Managers and internal teams where required</li>

<p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></p>

<li>Some experience or exposure to utility surveying, land surveying, or related site-based work</li>



<li>Basic understanding of underground utility tracing or GPR (training will be provided)</li>

<li>Full UK manual driving licence</li>

<p><strong><u>Role Responsibilities:</u></strong></p>
<p>Conduct large-scale underground utility detection surveys in compliance with PAS 128 standards.</p>
<p>Being able to conduct large topographical surveys is also desirable as this skill ensures high-quality underground utility surveys.</p>
<p>Process high-quality drawings and ensure project completion meets agreed deliverables.</p>
<p>Deliver projects in line with specifications and tight deadlines.</p>
<p>Mentor and support Powers survey apprentices.</p>
<p>Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and quality procedures.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Experience &amp; Qualifications Required:</strong></span></p>
<p>Minimum of 4 years’ surveying experience, with a proven ability to independently deliver high-quality, complex underground utility detection and topographical surveys.</p>
<p>Proficient in AutoCAD, N4ce, and experienced in using Ground Penetrating Radar equipment, a Cat and Genny and Leica Total Stations.</p>
<p>Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and work with a sense of urgency.</p>
<p>Understanding of the commercial aspects of surveying.</p>
<p>HNC/ONC in a surveying related qualification or equivalent industry experience.</p>
<p>2 A Levels (or equivalent) and 5 GCSEs (grade A-C or equivalent), including English and Maths (grade 6 required).</p>
<p>Membership to the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (even if only Associate member level).</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>ABOUT US AND THE OPPORTUNITY</strong></span></p>
<p>A fantastic opportunity has arisen in a niche surveying company with an immediate start for the right candidate. Archidata is a small but specialist Land &amp; building surveying company in West Sussex primarily providing data for architects in the form of plans, sections, elevations and topographical land surveys. Deliverables range from basic 2D AutoCAD plans to complex three-dimensional BIM models all drawn up with an architectural flair which sets Archidata out from the crowd in terms of quality surveying products for the construction industry.</p>
<p>Not only do we work closely with many regular architects across the south of England but we also work with a number of landscape and garden designers, public schools, developers and of course the general public. We find that our work is generally in the south of England but also work has taken us as far north as Glasgow, West to the Caribbean, and Southeast to The Netherlands and every day brings exciting new challenges. Probably our most exciting project to date was the setting out and construction of “The green and pleasant land” set in London’s 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.</p>
<p>As you would expect from a quality surveying company, we also provide setting out, monitoring, area surveys, land registry compliant plans, volume calculations, boundary disputes, verified view photos and CAD services We have invested heavily in the latest hand-held 3-dimensional laser scanning equipment together with GNSS GPS and total station theodolite technology not to mention the computer hard and software required to process this complex data.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>YOU &amp; YOUR MAIN DUTIES</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li>The ideal applicant would have 2-3 years’ experience of producing topographical and measured building surveys, however, more junior and trainee roles are available.</li>
<li>You would be hard working, committed, able to work on your own as well as in a team.</li>
<li>You would ideally be able to hit the ground running &amp; start immediately with a proven track record in<br />
surveying</li>
<li>You would ideally be able to demonstrate experience in the use of a wide range of Trimble &amp; GeoSlam<br />
survey instrumentation, along with the post processing skills required to produce detailed final 2D and<br />
3D surveys</li>
<li>You would be expected to speak &amp; write excellent English and have strong communication skills (both<br />
written and verbal) and an interpersonal style that enables you to flourish in a direct client facing role</li>
<li>Excellent time &amp; motion management skills.</li>
<li>Have exceptional planning and organising skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to<br />
prioritise effectively and manage multiple demands.</li>
<li>To be a people person and to eventually (if not already) have leadership skills needed to train and bring<br />
on more junior surveyors up through the ranks of the company.</li>
<li>Work well on your own and within a small team and be able to offer support to others when required</li>
<li>Be able to work independently and make sensible judgements and decisions.</li>
<li>You will ideally be chartered or working towards a charter from a relevant institution RICS, CIOB, RIBA<br />
etc…</li>
<li>You would ideally hold a relevant construction qualification</li>

<p><strong>Your Role:</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Deliver training on CICES Accredited Courses.</li>



<li>Provide instruction in Trimble hardware and software.</li>



<li>Work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.</li>



<li>Complete a teacher training qualification within the first three years (training package provided).</li>
</ul>



<p><strong>Additional experience to support your application:</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Experience in a wide range of Geospatial Surveying techniques.</li>



<li>A comprehensive understanding of basic surveying skills.</li>



<li>Proficiency with Trimble hardware and software.</li>



<li>Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.</li>



<li>Experience in formal or informal teaching roles.</li>



<li>Familiarity with e-learning and e-assessment tools.</li>

We provide comprehensive land, measured building and utilities surveying services to the property and infrastructure industries and are seeking a Utilities Surveyor to join our existing team.</p>
<p>You will have:</p>
<ul>
<li>At least 2 years relevant experience</li>
<li>Excellent abilities in EML and GPR techniques to PAS128 standard</li>
<li>GPR post-processing and Autocad experience is desirable</li>
<li>A full UK driving license</li>
<li>Good communication, self-motivation and organization qualities and will work accurately with attention to detail</li>

<p><strong>Salary Range £30 &#8211; £38k</strong></p>



<p>Anthony Brookes Surveys Ltd is a well established, survey company with a first class reputation. Based in Bristol and working nationally, we undertake a wide range of survey including Measured Building, Topographic, Rail, Setting Out and Monitoring.</p>



<p>We are currently looking for a motivated and committed individual to join our Measured Building Surveying team.</p>



<p>The buildings we work on range from terraced properties through to listed manor houses/churches, hospitals, universities and schools.</p>



<p>Our clients are a mixture of residential, commercial, heritage and public sector.</p>



<p>The Role:</p>



<p>The role will involve a mixture of field work and office work processing and drafting. Initially you would work alongside our surveyors to gain detailed knowledge of our current surveying practices and kit before moving onto carrying out your own surveys.</p>



<p>The role will require travel and working away from home, with occasional night shifts. However, a comprehensive additional remuneration package is in place for all hours worked outside of a core 40 hour working week, including paid travel</p>



<p>The role will suit someone with around 2-3 plus years of industry experience, who can demonstrate the skills required to produce a detailed final 2D/3D measured survey.</p>



<p>Responsibilities:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Undertake Measured Building Surveys using a variety of specialist equipment</li>



<li>Carry out both supervised and unsupervised fieldwork</li>



<li>Processed gathered data in the office environment, following technical guidance and best practice, to produce quality controlled measured surveys</li>



<li>Making sure that all work meets both Company and industry quality standards</li>



<li>Engage with colleagues at all levels and clients across various sectors in a professional manner  at all times</li>



<li>Support the development of in-house trainees to use survey equipment and process survey data</li>
</ul>



<p>Skills &amp; Qualifications:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Proven experience in aspects of measured building surveying including laser scanners, total stations, GPS and drafting in CAD and/or Revit</li>



<li>Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to use MS office software such as word and Excel.</li>



<li>Self motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team</li>



<li>A strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail and  problem solving skills</li>



<li>Hold a full valid UK driving licence</li>



<li>Have the Right to work in the UK</li>



<li>Absence of drug or alcohol related offences within the last five years is essential, due to some of the site environments/restrictions we work with</li>



<li>Willing to undergo DBS checks for working in education environments</li>



<li>Willingness to undertake relevant industry training and certification as required</li>



<li>HNC/HND/TSA Qual/Degree or diploma in surveying or a related disclipline would be advantageous, however, candidates with suitable skills and proven industry experience will also be considered.</li>
</ul>
