<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Role Overview</h1>



<p>The successful candidate will assist with the delivery of utility and drainage surveys both on-site and in the office, working under the guidance of a senior surveyor. All work will be carried out in accordance with company procedures for Health &amp; Safety, Quality Assurance, and Environmental standards.<br><br>No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided.</p>



<h1 class="wp-block-heading">The Role</h1>



<p>The role involves working on a range of utility and drainage survey projects using a combination of traditional surveying techniques and specialist technology.<br><br>Utility mapping is carried out using electromagnetic locating equipment and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to detect and map underground services. In addition, you will assist with drainage CCTV surveys, using camera systems to inspect and assess the condition of underground pipework, identifying defects, blockages, and structural issues.<br><br>Survey data is collected on site using GNSS and total station equipment and processed in the office using software such as N4CE and AutoCAD/BricsCAD (2D &amp; 3D), along with CCTV data review and reporting.<br><br>This is a physically active position combining outdoor site work in all conditions with office-based data processing.</p>

<p><strong>The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):</strong></p>



<p>Our successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including, but not limited to the following:</p>

<li>Conduct topographical, boundary, and construction surveys using total stations, GPS equipment, and levels</li>



<li>Establish control points and survey networks for engineering and construction projects</li>



<li>Measure and record precise distances, angles, elevations, and coordinates in the field</li>



<li>Set out building positions, road alignments, and infrastructure locations for construction teams</li>



<li>Prepare detailed survey drawings, site plans, and cross-sections using CAD software</li>



<li>Process and analyse survey data to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications</li>



<li>Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments to ensure optimum performance</li>



<li>Liaise with project managers, engineers, and contractors regarding survey requirements</li>



<li>Produce accurate survey reports and documentation for client deliverables</li>



<li>Carry out quality assurance checks on all survey work and calculations</li>



<li>Support construction monitoring activities including as-built surveys and setting out works</li>



<li>Travel to various project sites and adapt to different working environments and conditions</li>

<p>To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:</p>

<p><strong>The Role</strong></p>



<p>We are looking for an experienced&nbsp;<strong>Utility Surveyor&nbsp;</strong>in Irvine to join our team. Our successful candidate must have experience carrying out surveys across a variety of industries and locations, identifying utility pipes and cables for verification, validation and excavation, as well as data gathering to produce mapping information of underground and overhead distribution and supply services. <p>As a Geospatial Surveyor you will be responsible for delivering accurate, high quality survey data supporting a major industrial site. You will work closely with Lead Surveyors, Project Managers and delivery teams, playing a key role in ensuring project delivery is efficient and to the highest technical standards.<strong><br><br></strong></p>



<p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Carry out high accuracy traversing and levelling surveys.</li>



<li>Undertake precise total station observations using Leica surveying equipment.</li>



<li>Capture high quality SLAM survey data using NavVis VLX systems.</li>



<li>Producing accurate site records and shift reports</li>



<li>Working safely within a live industrial environment</li>
</ul>



<p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Minimum 2+ years’ practical experience in surveying.</li>



<li>Knowledge of traditional surveying techniques and total station use.</li>



<li>A valid CSCS card.</li>



<li>A full UK manual driving licence.</li>



<li>Able to deploy daily within the Southampton/Portsmouth area.</li>



<li>Experience with NavVis VLX/MLX systems is highly desirable, although will be provided.</li>



<li>Comfortable working in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.</li>
</ul>

<p>As a Senior Utilities Surveyor you’ll be the most experienced surveyor and comfortable being the most knowledgeable person on site, making decisions on approach, safety and quality, and seeing work through from mobilisation to handover. You will work across a wide range of environments, including infrastructure, rail and complex underground settings, using modern survey technology as part of an established national team.<strong><br><br></strong></p>



<p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>​Leading PAS128-compliant utilities surveys from site mobilisation through to handover</li>



<li>​Taking responsibility on site for safety, quality, approach and delivery</li>



<li>Locating underground services using electromagnetic locating and ground penetrating radar</li>



<li>Carrying out total station and GNSS observations</li>



<li>Processing EML and GPR data using AutoCAD, IQMaps and Geolitix</li>



<li>Managing survey data in line with company standards and project requirements</li>



<li>Working with Survey Leads and project teams to agree the most appropriate methods and technology</li>



<li>Coordinating with clients, subcontractors and other site teams</li>



<li>Supporting and mentoring junior surveyors, sharing knowledge and providing feedback</li>
</ul>



<p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>4+ years of proven experience delivering utilities surveys to PAS128 standards</li>



<li>​Confidence using GPR, electromagnetic locating and TPS or GNSS equipment</li>



<li>Strong AutoCAD skills and experience processing survey data</li>



<li>Experience with confined spaces, sewer surveys, laser scanning or rail environments is useful, but not essential.</li>



<li>Experience supporting or supervising junior surveyors is desirable.</li>



<li>The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities across live projects</li>



<li>Flexibility around working hours and location</li>



<li>A full, clean UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK</li>
</ul>
