WE ARE RECRUITING 2-3 STAFF MEMBERS UNDER THE FOLLOWING JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMO Geophysics Ltd: Archaeology and Engineering is the largest and most experienced group of archaeological geophysicists in the UK, with over 50 years of combined experience. We are looking to further expand our teams in the North (at our Bradford office) and in the Midlands (at our Upton upon Severn office) and invite candidates with varying levels of experience to join our multi-disciplined Group. In addition to Archaeological and Engineering Geophysics, SUMO also specialises in Utility Detection, Topographic Surveys, Measured Building Surveys, Laser Scanning and Aerial Surveys (in conjunction with Aerial Cam).

SALARY: £18,000 (trainee) – £24,000 (based upon level of experience)
HOURS: Full time 40 hrs/week
START DATE: ASAP (hence early applications welcomed)
ROLE: We are looking for experienced operators and trainees.
You will be carrying out our geophysical surveys, primarily using Bartington and Geoscan instruments, as well as Trimble GPS survey equipment. Occasionally, you will complete other survey work including utility detection work/building and topographic surveys etc.
The available positions are field based, however, suitable candidates who are accepted in our experienced posts will also become involved in data processing, interpretation and report writing from the office. All posts require a willingness to work outdoors in all weathers, in small teams and to stay away from home throughout the UK. Accommodation (hotel/B&B/pub) and subsistence will be provided for you when working away from home is required.
Due to the nature of field based work, applicants need to be physically fit in order to undertake these duties and after the appropriate qualifying period you will be eligible for Pension Enrolment. You will also be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (with the addition of paid Public Holidays).
Full PPE will be provided.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Archaeology, Archaeological Sciences or related subject. An MSc in Archaeological Prospection, or similar, would be advantageous for the Experienced positions. Full training given. CIfA membership welcomed, as are holders of CSCS cards.
