The Company

MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) is an experienced and innovative archaeology and built heritage practice. We have been providing independent, professional heritage advice and services for over 40 years across the UK and internationally on schemes both large and small. Our commercial services aid clients in development, infrastructure and construction sectors to meet their planning process requirements swiftly and expertly, while our community engagement programmes and research projects aim to share new experiences, skills and knowledge with the widest audience possible for the benefit of society. As one of the largest independent archaeological organisations in the UK, MOLA works on a wide range of exciting and challenging projects, across a range of types and periods.

The Vacancy

We are seeking an experienced archaeological surveyor/geomatician to take on the key role of Senior Geospatial Specialist based at our Northampton office. The Senior Geospatial Specialist will be integral to supporting MOLA’s field teams with on-site spatial data capture and subsequent processing and visualisation.  The role will also initiate and carry out other specialised metric surveys using a variety of techniques.

The Role

On a day-to-day basis you will be processing and quality checking spatial data captured by field teams for both internal and external use, and providing technical support and training to teams as necessary. You will also promote the use of survey techniques and help drive innovation in geospatial data capture and visualisation. You will carry out more specialised forms of metric survey, such as, photogrammetry, laser scanning, UAV, and topographic surveys and the associated data processing and reporting. An existing UAV qualification would be an advantage, but training can be provided if necessary. Excellent computer skills are essential, with extensive experience of AutoCAD and ArcGIS, along with other survey associated software. You’ll have strong organisational and communication skills, with an eye for detail and a commitment to quality.

For any queries, or to arrange an informal conversation about the role, contact MOLA’s Head of Visualisation, James Ladocha to the email provided.
