Underground Utility Surveyor

The Role

We are looking for a highly capable Underground Utility Surveyor who has the ability to gather spatial information relating to our client’s requirements.

You will need to travel throughout the UK on a weekly basis carrying out utility surveys for our clients. Most of your time will be spent on-site using technical instruments to record the environment. The equipment you use is part of a fast-moving technologically advanced industry and keeping up to date with the latest technology is required as the business updates and changes its equipment. You will process the data you have collected using LSS and draw up results using CAD software.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking site work using GPR and EML techniques for on-site service clearance in preparation for intrusive site investigation works.
  • Undertaking utility surveying on-site including lifting manholes, marking out services, taping, measuring offsets, levelling, etc.
  • Undertaking statutory authority search requests, collating project folder information and filing/archiving.
  • Organisation and housekeeping of tools, equipment and materials at project sites and in crew vehicles.
  • Assisting with carrying out fieldwork for CCTV survey, topographical surveys, measured building surveys and setting out.
  • Ensuring that all projects and activities have an approved safety plan and that health and safety issues are managed through the project plan.
  • Contributing, on an ongoing basis, toward maintaining a safe working environment both for yourself and for those working with you or in your close vicinity.

Ideal Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience in a underground utility surveying role.
  • Basic knowledge of land surveying techniques would be advantageous.
  • Level 3 QCF Utility Surveyor Qualification or similar.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Total Station, or RTK GPS.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Understanding of PAS128.
  • Good IT knowledge.
  • Skilled in detecting and mapping buried utilities.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic, GPR detection, drainage, and sewage mapping.
