M-EC is a privately-owned, multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy, operating nationally. We serve both private and public sector clients including residential, commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, education and healthcare.

We are seeking a Utility Surveyor with experience of undertaking underground surveys of buried services to join our established team of surveyors, based from our Leicestershire office.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and passionate individual; not only to utilise your established expertise but also to mentor and train junior members of our Geomatics team, working for numerous significant clients and a variety of projects.

Our Geomatics team offers a range of services to cover all aspects of surveying, so the successful candidate will need to be an experienced surveyor, adept at conducting Topographical Surveys and Utility Mapping.  Salary will be dependent on the level of expertise you have in some or all of these areas, so regardless of your level of experience we have a career opportunity for you.

The position is based in Hugglescote, near Leicester. There is flexibility with some hybrid working; around site, team and office commitments. Due to the need for travel to sites across the UK it is essential that you have a full UK driving licence. A company van is provided for work purposes.

Key role responsibilities:

  • Managing health and safety, including risk assessments and method statements;
  • Project and quality delivery; maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation on projects;
  • Team development; including mentoring, career development and supervision;
  • Client engagement; including management of relationships and securing repeat business;
  • Excellent customer service; and
  • Co-ordination with other disciplines within the company, working collaboratively with all staff to deliver excellence.

Key skills, experience and attributes required:

  • Relevant experience in delivering land surveys;
  • Experience in the use of ground penetrating radar and electromagnetic detection;
  • Proficient in the use of Total Stations and GNSS survey grade equipment as a minimum;
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Land Surveying DTM software;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and have strong analytical skills;
  • Organised and methodical with a keen eye for quality and the ability to solve problems effectively;
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team within a variety of environments and have the necessary skills and experience to work under pressure to deadlines and budgets;
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude, pro-active approach and desire to develop a career in the field of geospatial engineering and the built environment; and
  • Either have or are working towards professional membership with ICES and/or RICS.
