I started in the profession as a trainee Site Engineer / Surveyor for a Building Contractor / Developer. I completed the Higher National Certificate in Building Studies and CIOB computing and surveying courses during the Mid Eighties. I started Sitechnics Ltd, a general surveying company in 1989 and co founded Subtechnics Ltd, a utility mapping company in 1999. Now trading under the Technics Group brand for which I am the Chairman, we employ over 50 people and have offices across the UK.
I believe that it is essential that our profession is well represented across the wider marketplace. I have been actively involved with TSA for many years and have helped it to grow into the powerhouse of industry representation that it is today.
I was honoured to be TSA President from 2010 to 2015, I have been Chairman of the Technical Committee & PR Committee and am a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors. I have represented TSA at the Survey Liaison Group, Chaired GEO business Conferences and given speeches at various industry events.
I believe it is really important to encourage the next generation into our profession so I give talks at local schools and Technics take part in events such as TeenTech and Innovate Guildford.
