Senior Geospatial Monitoring Engineer

Job Description

PLACE OF WORK:

Telford/Remote

ROLE SPECIFICATION:

Covering monitoring schemes on a variety of assets including but not limited to buildings, rail track, embankments, structures and environmental application, you will play a key part in planning, coordinating, and delivering monitoring solutions that help ensure safety, compliance, and operational efficiency across the built environment and infrastructure projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support project managers in planning and executing rail monitoring projects.

• Assist with scheduling, resource allocation, and reporting on project progress.

• Liaise with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.

• Coordinate monitoring activities around live rail & construction environments with strict adherence to safety requirements.

• Manage the installation, calibration, and maintenance of monitoring instruments such as automated & manual total stations, tilt meters & environmental monitoring equipment covering noise, dust & vibration.

• Collect and validate data from instrumentation systems.

• Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate where necessary.

• Support monitoring of assets including but not limited to buildings, rail track, embankments, structures and environmental applications during construction and maintenance works.

• Interpret monitoring data to identify potential risks or anomalies.

• Prepare technical reports and summaries for stakeholders.

• Ensure all monitoring activities comply with industry standards and project specifications.

• Prepare and review RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements), Work Package Plans (WPP), and Task Briefing Sheets (TBS).

• Maintain accurate records of monitoring data, equipment usage, and project documentation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Essential:

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Railway Engineering, or related discipline would be desirable.

• Hands-on experience with instrumentation systems including installation, calibration, and data collection.

• Knowledge of a variety of monitoring techniques and reporting.

• Experience in preparing RAMS, WPP, and TBS documentation.

• Strong organizational and communication skills both internally & externally.

• Ability to work in dynamic, safety-critical environments.

• Familiarity with health and safety regulations.

Desirable:

• Enthusiasm for further developing expertise in monitoring and project management.

• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.

• Willingness to travel and work on-site.

• Client facing Commercial & Business development ability to build new and maintain existing relationships

• Team player with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.

• Valid PTS / COSS/ SSSTS certifications desirable.
