Mobile Mapping Surveyor

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Geospatial Mobile Mapping Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining Trimble and Leica Mobile Mapping units for data collection, conducting post-processing of acquired data, and performing data registration and quality control processes. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in geospatial technology, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a meticulous attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Trimble and Leica Mobile Mapping units to collect high-quality geospatial data for various projects and applications.
  • Conduct field surveys and data acquisition using mobile mapping systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness of collected data.
  • Perform post-processing of raw data collected from mobile mapping units using software such as Trimble Business Centre, Leica Cyclone, or similar.
  • Execute data registration and integration processes to align and fuse collected datasets into a cohesive geospatial model.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure data quality, accuracy, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance of mobile mapping units.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of standardized workflows for mobile mapping data acquisition, processing, and analysis.
  • Provide technical support and training to field personnel on the operation and maintenance of mobile mapping equipment.
  • Stay updated with advancements in mobile mapping technology and software tools to enhance operational efficiency and data quality.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geomatics, Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (2+ years preferred) in operating Trimble and Leica Mobile Mapping units for data collection and surveying.
  • Proficiency in post-processing software such as Trimble Business Center, Leica Cyclone, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of geospatial data formats (e.g., LAS, LAZ, XYZ) and coordinate systems.
  • Familiarity with data registration techniques and software (e.g., registration of point clouds, imagery, and GPS data).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and CAD applications is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for fieldwork assignments as needed.
