In this section you will find a number of work samples aimed at assisting both clients and contractors to understand what should be expected from a TSA member.

Surveys

Below are examples of work drawings which are intended to assist the user to understand what should be expected from a TSA member. The examples of work should only be used as a guide and may be superseded by a specification. They are however planned to be seen as examples of best practice. Colours and line styles may vary from TSA member to TSA member.

Example of Topographical and Detail Survey

 

This is a typical urban detail survey of a Library with surrounding roads to near face of kerb. Commensurate to 1:200m plotting accuracies.

 

This is a typical fairly large multi-sheet urban detail survey of a school or college with surrounding roads to far face of kerb. Commensurate to 1:200m plotting accuracies.

Example of Building Survey Floor Plans

 

This is a typical measured building floor plan survey of a with indications of where the elevations have been taken and their relevant identification. Commensurate to 1:100m plotting accuracies.

Example of Engineering Setting Out Verification Drawings

 

This is a typical verification/proving survey of Grid Lines and key Engineering setting out. Points for a proposed development. (Note: Original Survey by others) Commensurate to 1:100m plotting accuracies.

This is a typical verification/proving engineering survey of the proposed building corners and centre-lines of the ‘dig’. There are also a number of co-ordinated keys points in and around the site which were also checked. (Note: Original Survey by others) Commensurate to 1:100m plotting accuracies.

Example of Section 38 Adoption Drawing for Highways and Drainage

 

This is a fairly standard engineering survey plan of an area of road with associated drainage details for local council adoption. This will not normally include private land unless there is an Easement of the route to another adopted MH or service. The colours and details shown are usually specified by the local council then under the direction from the developer. This particular plan has the building positions checked with the underlay OS data supplied by the developer or local council. Commensurate to 1:100m plotting accuracies.

 

Example of Utility Survey of Road Junction

 

This is a typical underground survey of an urban/city road junction prior to PAS 128 However the detail shown would be similar possibly the colours and layer names may alter along with other definitions. This was part of a multi sheet survey. Commensurate to 1:50m plotting accuracies.

Example of Contour Survey for Volume Calculation

 

This is an engineering/topographic survey of the to define the Spoil Heaps for Volume calculations. Other parts of the site were surveyed to confirm levels and boundaries. This was part of a multi sheet survey. Commensurate to 1:200m plotting accuracies.

 

Example of Verticality Survey

 

This is an engineering verticality contour survey of newly constructed building to analyse the sun’s reflections that were extremely disruptive to surrounding existing buildings at this college campus. This was part of a multi sheet survey. Commensurate to 1:100m plotting accuracies.
