Europe’s only pan-utility exhibition, Utility Week Live (UWL) 2025 returns to the NEC in Birmingham on 20-21 May. This renowned industry event is celebrating 10 years and to mark the occasion, it has expanded across two halls (17 & 18). This landmark event will feature a record-breaking lineup of industry leaders, who will be delivering extensive and insightful theatre sessions. The expanded format will enable the event to host a range of new and returning features, stages and exhibitors, centred around the headline theme of ‘Lead the Change’. If you’re attending, then look out for our stand located at E34.
PUMA accreditation
We’ll be at the event both days and would welcome the opportunity to talk to you about PUMA. This is the accreditation scheme designed to assess the ability of utility companies to deliver surveys that comply with the PAS128 specification. PAS128:2022 is a complex specification, but PUMA ensures that accredited companies deliver the highest standard, while providing a benchmark for good practice.
The crux of PUMA is that anyone who is undertaking a project involving breaking ground will need to have a utility survey carried out. This will have to be done before any work can start. Many companies offer this service, but they don’t all have the skills to carry out these surveys safely and effectively. This can have a knock-on effect and lead to delays, disruption and even cause accidents, such as live strikes of utilities, such as electricity or gas.
A seal of approval
To prevent this happening, TSA has developed PUMA – which stands for PAS128 Utility Mapping Accreditation. By attaining PUMA accreditation, companies are demonstrating to clients their compliance with PAS128 standards. They are providing confidence in the quality and accuracy of their survey data, differentiating between accredited companies with non-accredited ones, and enhancing their professional reputation and commitment to continuous innovation and improvement.
Whether you work in utilities, or collaborate with the sector, there will be much to learn about the latest cutting-edge technologies and solutions at UWL 2025. With over 200 exhibitors, the event promises to be a great opportunity for utility companies across the industry to connect, learn and stay ahead. We’d love to see you and tell you how PUMA can change the way you carry out surveys –so don’t forget to drop in to stand E34 to find out more.
