Flying colours – celebrating Survey School graduation

Published: 19 Oct 2022

Friday 14th October saw the graduation of students from The Survey School at the beautiful location of Worcester Racecourse. The turnout was fantastic, with representatives from Powers UK, 40Seven, Topcon Positioning, Chartered ICES, SEP Geospatial, MK Surveys, Safedigging and Leica Geosystems UK. Eager students gathered to hear a welcome from TSA President, Nick Hampson. A day that started with black clouds and rain was soon bathed in sunshine, just in time for the keen and eager 14 students to be presented with their awards and certificates for completing TSA Surveying Courses 54 and 55.

Outstanding achievement awards

The highest performing students on the TSA Surveying Course at The Survey School were announced and celebrated with four graduates named as this year’s prize winners for outstanding achievement.

Andy Evans, the Chartered ICES President, presented the award for Best Assignment Award 2022 to George Parslow of Safedigging.

Jonn Hicks from Leica Geosystems UK presented the joint TSA and Leica award for Best Student 2022 to Christopher Baimbridge of 40Seven.  Christopher commented, “I can’t believe I’ve won this award, everyone has done so well on this course, and we have all learnt together and become friends. The course has enabled me to increase my technical knowledge and skills. I feel honoured to have won.”

Alan Mansell, The Survey School’s manager, presented the SEP Geospatial award for Best Topographical Assignment to Todd Weller of MK Surveys.

The final award was for the Vice President’s Award, and this was presented to Benjamin Connelly by TSA Vice President Olly Viney.

After the ceremony those in attendance enjoyed a delicious two course meal and the happy students left with goodie bags generously donated by Topcon Positioning and Leica Geosystems.
