‘Safety first is safety always’ – The Survey Association’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing Day

Published: 14 Feb 2024

One of The Survey Association’s vision statements is to help our members build a better business. As a part of that, we are committed to ensuring the wellbeing of our members, striving to provide the tools to enable issues of mental and physical health to be addressed as soon as they arise.

This month (February 28) we are holding our annual Health, Safety and Wellbeing Day. We would like to thank Leica Geosystems for its generosity in hosting this event once again.

This Seminar is designed:

  • For Survey Company Directors, Managers, Supervisors and others in a Health and Safety Management role.
  • To give a broad base of information to those responsible for the Management of Health and Safety.
  • To be a useful foundation course focusing on Director’s and Manager’s roles and responsibilities.

Health and safety

The morning’s health and safety update will be run by Martin Mullholland of MD Safety Management, a team with 30 years’ experience in health and safety consultancy. The Survey Association has been working with Martin for many years, running our first health and safety seminar in 2007 and every year since.

During the morning session, Martin will focus on:

  • A look at the latest and best practice updates from the world of health and safety
  • Exploring the framework for health and safety competency
  • Bridging the gap between safety and sustainability, including the triple bottom line of profit, people and planet

Wellbeing

The statistics around mental health are frightening, and this is particularly true within the construction sector. According to the latest data from the Office for National Statistics, covering England and Wales, workers in construction are now nearly four times more likely to take their own lives than in other sectors.

The wellbeing focus in the afternoon will be an interactive, engaging, and uplifting session run by Jenny Evans from Rainbows End Coaching. Jenny is an inspirational and motivating coach, experienced in support and guidance, with a flair for moving people forward. She will focus on providing members with the tools to deal with stress and look after their own wellbeing as well as that of their team. Everybody will leave feeling revived and pleased they came.

This event is free to members, make sure you put the date in your diary and book by replying to office@tsa-uk.org.uk, providing names and individual email addresses of attendees.
