TSA conference set to be ‘out of this world’

Published: 11 Oct 2023

Following the success of last year’s TSA Conference, which was held at the British Motor Museum in Warwick, we are returning to the same venue for this year’s event. Taking place on Wednesday 8 November 2023, we are excited to invite our members to register to attend and join us for what will be a star-studded day.

Peak of perfection

Building on the positive feedback from last year’s speaker, Sir Clive Woodward, who provided an inspirational and informative session, we think this year’s speaker is, truly, out of this world. We are delighted to announce our conference keynote speaker is astronaut Tim Peake.

Astronaut, pilot, educator and ambassador for space and STEM

Tim was the first British ESA astronaut to visit the International Space Station. He launched on a Soyuz rocket on 15 December 2015 and landed back on Earth on 18 June 2016 after 186 days in space.

During Tim’s Principia mission to the International Space Station, he conducted a spacewalk to repair the Station’s power supply. Other highlights saw him drive a rover across a simulated Mars terrain from space, taking part in over 250 scientific experiments for ESA and international partners and helping to dock two spacecraft to the Station. Over thirty education outreach projects were conducted during Tim’s mission, which have reached more than two million students.

Tim is an ambassador for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and works closely with the United Kingdom Space Agency (UKSA) and the UK government on their space, education and outreach programmes. He is also an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust, the Scouts and has a close affiliation with Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Tim sits on the Advisory Board for two ‘new space’ companies, Skyrora Ltd and Blue Abyss Diving Ltd. He was a founding member of the Defence Innovation External Advisory Panel in 2017, where he served for eighteen months. He was appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in the Queen’s 2016 Birthday Honours for services to space research and scientific education.

A packed day in prospect

As well as such a first-class keynote, we also have Simon Navin presenting in his role as EDI Chair for CICES, an update on the PUMA accreditation scheme and a brilliant initiative with Scouts.  All designed to address the three core remits of TSA:

  • helping you build a better business
  • encouraging companies with a survey requirement to only use a TSA member
  • making every young person aware of surveying as a career option.

As attendees last year will know, during the break for lunch, you will have free time to enjoy the breath-taking venue, along with some valuable networking with fellow TSA members. The British Motor Museum is the world’s largest collection of historic British cars. It’s a treat for petrol heads and celebrates British motoring’s past, present and future. There are over 400 British classic cars for visitors to explore, drawn from the collections of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust and the Jaguar Heritage Trust.

We hope to see as many members as possible at the conference and look forward to welcoming faces old and new. If you would like to attend, please get in touch by 31st October 2023 with your details. We’ll see you soon!
